A democratic school is a school in which kids make all decisions about their learning, and about how they spend their time. Democratic schools have a fantastic record in fostering independence and creativity. Many graduates choose to go to college and find college easy. One of the pioneers of democratic schooling is Sudbury Valley School. Its founder, Danny Greenberg, famously insists that his school knows no dyslexia. All kids learn at their own pace. Some learn reading naturally at 3, others at 11. Nobody is pushed into progress.
