John Taylor Gatto (1935-2018) wsa an educator, erudite and a great inspiration. He used to be a great teacher until ... he decided to quit so that he could stop hurting children. He wrote many books and toured many countries. It is pretty amazing to me that the whole Prussian model of education survived a clash with Gatto who has spent the last three decades of his life combating the system. The explosion in homeschooling in the US can be attributed in part to Gatto's effort in promoting self-learning and self-dependence.
