Myth: SuperMemo is so simple that it is not needed
Myth
SuperMemo is so simple that it is not needed (PalmGear user's comment).
Fact
Simplicity of an idea usually enhances its usefulness. The underlying idea of SuperMemo (increasing intervals) is indeed very simple. However, doing all computations by hand makes little sense, and not employing spaced repetition is bound to negatively affect learning. Consequently, SuperMemo is necessary for knowledge where retention levels are to reach above 80%. Otherwise, any disorganized system of repetitions becomes very wasteful (see: Leitner box). Ironically, many users of SuperMemo for Windows complain that the program is too complex (see Myth: SuperMemo is Hard)
