Priority queue

Jump to navigation Jump to search

Priority queue in SuperMemo is an ordered sequence of pieces of knowledge sorted by their priority. Priority queue helps you learn and review knowledge starting with the most important material.

In incremental reading, the dynamics of knowledge priority in a SuperMemo collection is similar to the dynamics of knowledge stability in human memory. Portions of knowledge keep getting re-discovered and up-prioritized in the external storage in a process that is similar to spaced repetition in human memory (i.e. internal storage). This is how an incremental reading collection serves as a natural slow-access extension of human memory. If Google is a working memory extension, incremental reading is a long-term memory extension that employs spaced repetition.
